Today is a celebration of true fighters out there. Cash was born on January 18, 2007. He was named for Cassius Clay, born on January 17, 1942. Haiti gained independence from France on January 1, 1804. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929. All fought hard and won many battles.
Maybe to really know what it is to win, you have to know what it feels like to lose, and to keep fighting. Today, I have a dream that those fighting for life in Haiti right now will receive the help they need, one day we will, as a whole, learn to respect one another regardless of color or belief and that continuous advances in science will cure the suffering of people with diseases like Parkinson’s and Spinal Muscular Atrophy. SMA kills more babies than any other genetic disease. In honor of Baby Cash, let’s move toward winning a huge fight – it’s something we can do NOW, this week! Donate to Disaster Relief in Haiti and Come to the Concert for Cash!

Bluegrass. Benefit. Baby. This event BRILLIANTLY combines all three. If you are in the Denver area, you should join me at the Oriental Theater this Saturday for some awesome bluegrass, benefiting The Children’s Hospital and celebrating an exceptional baby boy, Cash Scanlon-Philips. Spring Creek Bluegrass, from right here in Lyons!, will be rocking the stage along with two other bands and all proceeds will go toward Cash’s healing garden at The Children’s Hospital in Denver.
Oh and I’m giving away two tickets, so leave a comment and a random winner shall be chosen!

Okay, worries are over for the time being. I have entered my calm submissive state. The show must go on.
Today is Earth Day. One of my favorite days of the year next to loved ones’ birthdays and Halloween. Today I will be sending my friend some foxy cards that I printed on the BirdDog Press like this one in honor of her son who left this earth nearly a year ago. They are planting a beautiful garden in Cash’s name at the Children’s Hospital in Denver. One may remember a poster I designed for his benefit concert earlier this year on his birthday. Cash is an angel watching over his Mommy and Daddy these days – often appearing as a curious fox on an evening run near their house. His foxy spirit will always be with us.

I have been helping two close friends with a poster for a benefit concert they are putting on for their son, Cash. It is a joy to be involved in the celebration of this child. You can learn more about Cash on his team blog.
