The BirdDog Press indulges its clientele with big design ideas and small-batch letterpress printing. As a collaborative design studio and handmade print shop, honoring traditional craftsmanship and modern technology in harmony is the goal. Our practices render a conscious commitment to sustainability for the future of humankind. The product illustrates our penchant for bespoke communication.

The BirdDog Press chooses tree-free and post-consumer recycled papers – some are even plantable! We print with vegetable inks, recyclable photopolymer plates and clean up our inky messes like good southern girls with a crisco and citrus combo. Our studio is powered by alternative energy from the wind and every piece is handmade right here in the USA using every last scrap. While the BirdDog Press uses some new technologies in producing their work, we are firecely dedicated to the perpetuation of this historical craft and honor those traditions, keeping them alive and integrated into our overall process.

Back before our trusty Chandler & Price Platen press was unloaded into the studio with a heavy iron thud, we rescued a puppy from Quebec. We named her Siler, but as a German Shorthaired Pointer, our family endearingly called her by the
generic term for any hunting breed – “bird dog”. Later, when we rescued the century old press and put it to work, well, the moniker just rolled off the tongue.
